Music and Traditions

In the Saharan Morocco there is a hard tie between music and poetry.

There is not concerts in the nomadic world, when we talk about “hawl” in the Sahara, the reference is always to poetry and music evenings under the velum of the khayma.

The refinement, which is the trademark of musical expression, is rooted in poetry.

By the same token, poetic creation needs music to burst into bloom.

Even in declamatory mode, the Hassani poetry builds on music and the characteristics of its modal system.
